A landowner, at least one who works in the oil industry, acts as a go-between between exploration companies and landowners. In general, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who have mineral rights to lease those rights to the companies they represent. They typically control the land and secure leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, man-camps, supervise the assembly of mining machinery, and drill mines, especially in remote locations. They also repair parts, troubleshoot problems, and help out. Quoted in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode 44.24 (2022). For someone so focused on her goals, the inclusion of an emotionally unstable one-woman circus undermines the purpose of the series. Her character seems to distract from the central narrative and add unnecessary chaos rather than supporting her journey. The description doesn’t improve the story, but rather seriously hinders his determination and focus. Likewise, the roles of his wife and daughter feel out of place in the series. The wife seems emotionally unpredictable, while the daughter lacks intellectual depth, making her contribution to the plot irrelevant. The portrayal of the daughter feels particularly shallow, as her character only offers superficial engagement, which adds no value to the story. Also, these characters are constantly jumping around in provocative clothing, apparently for no reason. In addition to drawing in viewers, it doesn’t seem to be in keeping with the tone of the series. Rather than improving the plot or character dynamics, this approach is a shallow attention-grabbing tactic. It’s a strange and unnecessary addition that detracts from the overall quality of the narrative.
